Perhaps there is an idealism to what I am saying but I will sya it anyway:true love is based on trust.
If you read the myth of Cupid and Psyche, this idea is explicated with poetic simplicity.Psyche,a beautiful, innocent woman falls in love with the God of love who shoots the arrows of infatuation. He visits her at night but tells her not to light an oil lamp and look at his form or something dire will happen.
Psyche is told by some women who wish her ill, that Cupid is,in fact an ugly serpent and she should light the oil lamp and see if this is true.
She does this and he disappears.
Eventually after much testing, she works off the karma of this and regains Cupid’s love.
The point of this story is that if we are critical of too much in a relationship,we may lose the purity, strangeness and innocence of it forever.
